While former NYC mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner mourns his Democratic primary loss and hangs out with sheep, another candidate looking to make a political comeback will actually see his name on the election day ballot.
Jimmy McMillan, of the “Rent Is Too Damn High” party, will be featured on the ballot in the Nov. 5 general election, thanks to a judge.
When McMillan first submitted his petition to run for mayor, the city Board of Elections invalidated it due to mistakes, according to The Associated Press. But this week, the Board’s decision was overturned, with the judge ruling that the errors on the petition were not major.
McMillan, a self-proclaimed ‘karate expert’ who came to fame during an ill-fated attempt to run for governor in 2010, will be facing off against Democrat Bill de Blasio — Weiner’s vanquisher — and Republican Joe Lhota.
The eccentric candidate announced his current run for mayor in a catchy and hysterical YouTube video rap. He has previously run for elected office six times, included two previous runs for mayor, in 2005 and 2009. McMillan formed the “Rent Is Too Damn High” party in 1993.
