GOP Debate: Bush defends his position on amnesty

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is out of line with many conservatives on immigration and he sought to clarify his position during the Fox News primetime debate Thursday.

When asked by moderator Chris Wallace if he still supports his comments that illegal immigrants come as an “act of love,” Bush  defended his previous comments. He stated that illegals come to this country because they have no other choice.

“It’s not our job to pick and choose who comes in,” he said.

“There should be a path to earned legal status,” he continued. “Not amnesty, but earned legal status.”

Ironically, the only applause Bush received during his explanation was when he supported defunding sanctuary cities.
