Liberal, pro-abortion blogger Amanda Marcotte is doing little to mask her disgust and disdain for babies both in and out of the womb, referring to one as a “lentil-sized, brainless embryo” and comparing abortion to having a cavity removed.
In a two-part series of blog posts published on The Raw Story earlier this week, Marcotte attempted to defend abortion and pro-choice arguments. The blogger, whose credentials include Slate and Salon, defended abortion, saying she would chose to have such a procedure because she can’t fathom the idea of a baby ruining her life.
“This is why, if my birth control fails, I am totally having an abortion,” Marcotte writes in her March 14 blog post. “Given the choice between living my life how I please and having my body within my control and the fate of a lentil-sized, brainless embryo that has half a chance of dying on its own anyway, I choose me.”
The feminist blogger goes on to lament how “loud and smelly and, above all other things, demanding” babies are.
“No matter how much free day care you throw at women, babies are still time-sucking monsters with their constant neediness,” Marcotte writes.
While many pro-life advocates push for alternatives to abortion such as adoption, the blogger views the option as a despicable suggestion.
“And don’t float ‘adoption’ as an answer,” she says. “Adoption? F**k you, seriously. I am not turning my body over for nine months of gaining weight and puking and being tired and suffering and not being able to sleep on my side and going to the hospital for a bout of misery and pain so that some couple I don’t know and probably don’t even like can have a baby.”
Marcotte goes on to discuss all the wonderful things she can do solely because she doesn’t have children, like watch endless hours of HBO’s “True Detective” and have “sex in any room of the house I please.”
And babies, according to the liberal blogger, are not people. According to Marcotte, an infant is nothing more than a “mindless pre-person” that puts up less of a fight than a cavity in one’s tooth.
“Either way, what she wants trumps the non-existent desires of a mindless pre-person that is so small it can be removed in about two minutes during an outpatient procedure,” she writes, of a woman’s right to have an abortion. “Your cavities fight harder to stay in place.”
Not yet finished ranting about babies and abortion, Marcotte continued to voice her disgust for pro-life arguments in a second blog post published March 17.
The blogger slams those who advocate for a ban on abortion, writing that those who cast a vote for pro-life politicians are “voting against a social safety net, voting for reduced access to contraception, and voting for labor laws that will eventually leave even more workers too impoverished to feed themselves consistently, much less their children.”
Marcotte has adamantly spoken out against pro-life policies and those who support a right to life. She slammed Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis (D) for pivoting to support a 20-week abortion ban, calling her changing stance a “betrayl,” and called abortion during a woman’s first trimester a “relatively minor medical procedure that hardly merits the term ‘surgery.'”
