Prepare to not care about the nice and totally unremarkable thing a Georgia Senate candidate did

David Perdue is a Republican candidate for the United States Senate from Georgia.

On Friday, he signed the diabetic pump of a young woman to help raise awareness for juvenile diabetes, according to the Perdue campaign and the young woman’s family. Video of the incident exists, but it is not here. You shouldn’t go looking for it, because it doesn’t matter.

Now that you’ve not watched this uncontroversial clip, which was captured by a Democrat-aligned “tracker” — a political gnat dispatched to lurk around opposing campaigns for such unremarkable happenings as this one, as well as to stalk people’s houses — for details as to why it was initially relevant. The video was distributed by the Democratic group American Bridge “without comment,” obviously suggesting that it caught the embarrassing moment a U.S. Senate candidate autographed the typically clothed part of a young woman’s body. Sounds like college tailgate stuff. It wasn’t remotely close. The crowd was sparse and sober, it wasn’t football Saturday, and Perdue half-jokingly said, “No pictures.” A man provided cover with a sign as Perdue inked his name. These are the things that transpired during the course of about 25 quiet seconds.

Here are statements from Perdue’s spokesperson and the young woman’s family about the signing ceremony.

“[Perdue] was asked to sign an individual’s diabetic pump to help raise awareness for juvenile diabetes. This was a Georgia family who shared their personal story of their struggle with ObamaCare and the rising health care costs associated with their daughter’s treatment which is not being covered by their insurance,” Megan Whittemore of the Perdue camp said, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

“This is something [the young woman] has done with multiple other prominent figures and will continue to do in raising awareness for juvenile diabetes. We were surrounded by friends and family who understood our daughter’s desire for privacy. We hope that the media and others will respect our wishes and make this go away for our daughter and our family,” the young woman’s family added.

American Bridge said it “regretted any confusion it caused.” Surely.

Now that you’ve read almost 350 words without a video, here’s a YouTube clip of some puppies. Have an awesome weekend.
