Saturday Night Live opened its show with a spoofed version of last week’s presidential debate.
Kate McKinnon, Maya Rudolph, Larry David, and Woody Harrelson returned as Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Joe Biden, while Rachel Dratch came back as Amy Klobuchar, Fred Armisen as Michael Bloomberg, and Will Ferrell as an un-blinking Tom Steyer on Saturday. Each of the candidates were mocked over issues that have set them back.
David, as Sanders, commented on the Vermont senator’s recent health scare saying, “I’m very proud of the fact that I was the first heart attack patient to show up to the emergency room in a city bus.” Meanwhile, Harrelson portrayed Biden as a bumbling elderly man on the verge of misspeaking at any moment.
“I just want everyone to know, America, I see you,” he said. “And I see the faces you all make when I talk. You’re scared, scared I’ll say something off-color, or even worse, on-color. What I want you to know is, you should be scared, because I’m always one second away from calling Cory Booker ‘Barack.’”
Chris Redd, who played Booker, mocked the New Jersey senator’s one-liner from the debate, in which he suggested Biden could’ve been high when the former vice president said he did not support marijuana legalization.
