Former White House press secretary Joe Lockhart said he is no longer interested in hearing from Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, suggesting she “made a deal with the devil.”
Lockhart, a Democrat who was former President Bill Clinton’s press secretary, dismissed Birx, a world-renowned global health official with a focus on the field of HIV/AIDS, as a partisan on Friday.
“I, for one, am no longer interested in hearing from Dr. [Birx],” he tweeted. “Her vouching for Trump’s vast scientific abilities from his business background was the breaking point. Stepford Doc.”

His statement came in response to a Christian Broadcasting Network interview in which Birx praised Trump.
“[Trump is] so attentive to the scientific literature and the details and the data. And I think his ability to analyze and integrate data that comes out of his long history in business has really been a real benefit,” she said.
Lockhart, who is a CNN contributor, said she drank the proverbial “Kool Aid” and that she is waiting “for her live shot on” One America News Network, an openly right-leaning media company favored by the president. “She’ll be discussing the scientific roots of Chinese communism and the Democratic plot to spread the virus,” he added, alluding to an OANN reporter’s questions to Trump during a recent task force briefing.
