U.S. marshals are looking for a suspected Bloods street gang member who is a fugitive from three different states, and they are asking the public to help with information that will lead to his capture.
James Pitts has a history of arrests for robbery, weapons, drugs, theft and assault charges, authorities said. The 32-year-old is wanted for violating the conditions of court-ordered supervision in cases in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
“Pitts has been given three different chances to do the right thing,” said Supervisory Inspector Matt Burke, of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. “I think he’s had strike three, and it’s time for him to be out of the community for a while.”
Pitts has been wanted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office since July for violating his probation on weapons offenses and for reckless endangerment.
He is also wanted for violating the conditions of his supervision in Arlington, after being convicted of public order crimes and participating in a gang.
Pitts is also wanted for violating his parole in York County, Pa., after he was convicted for theft under the name Thomas Green.
Authorities said he’s affiliated with the Bloods gang and has a skull and claw tattoo on his left arm. He’s listed as being 6 feet tall and 180 pounds.
Pitts has ties to D.C., Silver Spring, Hyattsville and Strasburg, Va.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call U.S. marshals at 301-489-1717.
Tips from readers of The Washington Examiner have led to the arrest of 35 fugitives in the D.C. area in the past three years, including convicted murderers, kidnappers, pedophiles, rapists and scam artists.
The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, run by the U.S. Marshals Service, is composed of 30 federal, state and local agencies from Baltimore to Norfolk. The unit has captured more than 33,000 fugitives since its creation in 2004.
