Take 5 for Nov. 17

Gaia at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Saturday What is Gaia, pronounced “guy-uh,” the multimedia party taking place at the Corcoran Gallery of Art this Saturday?

Maybe the founder can answer.

“It’s an immersive dance, music and art experience,” said Nicolas Laget, founder and organizer of Gaia.

Two years ago, Laget wanted to organize a party that went beyond just a DJ and some lights. The result is Gaia, an event that includes DJs, dancing, live music, a magician, video projection and more. The party will also feature an open bar and light refreshments.

“I remember the days you’d go out and expect to be entertained,” Laget said.

Part concert, part performance art, Gaia incorporates the architecture of the space in which the party is held. Gaia does not yet have its own permanent location and instead puts on an event every few months at a different location.

“It’s a happy middle between going to a concert and going to a club or lounge,” Laget said.
