Nightlife impresario Michael Kosmides is taking over the operations of longtime downtown power spot Teatro Goldoni this weekend.
Current chef-owner Fabrizio Aielli is opening a new restaurant in Naples, Fla., this spring, so he brought in Kosmides — the co-owner of Eyebar and Play Lounge — as a partner.
“I had never been to Teatro Goldoni until about a year ago, and I couldn’t believe it,” Kosmides told Yeas & Nays. “I wanted to be a part of it as quickly as possible.” He says he plans to extend the hours Thursday through Saturday nights in an effort to woo the after-dinner crowd. Another goal is to make the eatery more female-friendly, with more wines by the glass and new menu items.
Aielli will remain in the kitchen for another six months, after which sous chef Nicola Amarune will take over.
