Oakland officials will reverse plans to cut police funding and seek to hire more officers as soon as possible, Mayor Libby Schaaf said Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, as a spate of gun violence and fatal shootings has left residents on edge. The tragic
school shooting at Covenant School
in Nashville,
Tennessee
, showed how important the
police
are in our country. Mostly every story covered by the media about police tends to be negative, and even in cases such as Nashville, where the police are the heroes, they rarely, if at all, get the credit for their heroism. It’s an unfortunate circumstance of the left-wing, anti-police rhetoric embraced by Democratic politicians, left-wing political pundits, and a liberal establishment media.

NASHVILLE SHOOTING: AUDREY HALE WAS RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR ‘EMOTIONAL DISORDER,’ POLICE CONFIRM

“Defund the police” became a motto for the Left after
George Floyd
was killed in police custody in 2020. It was predicated on left-wing inflammatory political rhetoric that police do more harm than good in the country and, as a result, shouldn’t be funded. It was always a bogus claim, centered on Democrats’ hyperbolic hysteria, which they used to cause division in the country.

Every day, police officers risk their lives to save ours. It’s one of the only professions in which people leave their house for work and aren’t sure they will make it home alive when their shift ends. Their courage and bravery are always taken for granted. But during a time when gun homicides are rampant throughout the country, the police are needed more than ever.

Consider the heroic Nashville police officers who arrived during the Covenant School shooting. For all the talk from the Left about what the police do wrong, they hardly ever acknowledge what they do right. You’re probably familiar with former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, but do you know the names of Officer Michael Collazo or Officer Rex Engelbert? They were the officers of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department who stopped Audrey Hale from killing more innocent children.

Now, ask yourself, why don’t you know their names?

As people were running out, the officers of Nashville ran in. They were the ones who risked their lives to stop a homicidal maniac from killing 9-year-olds. It wasn’t a social worker, a talk show host from MSNBC, or a member of The View. As Hale fired from what Democrats like to call “an assault-style rifle,” it wasn’t Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) or Cori Bush (D-MO) or a member of the Biden administration who risked their lives to stop her. It was the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. And they showed exactly why we should stop all talk about defunding the police.
