Amy Klobuchar’s presidential campaign raised $11.4 million in the last quarter of 2019, doubling her fundraising haul in the previous three-month period in a sign of momentum for her campaign heading into 2020 early state nominating contests.
More than 145,000 donors accounted for the $11.4 million, her strongest fundraising quarter of the year and an increase from the $4.8 million the Democratic Minnesota senator’s campaign brought in from June through September. The campaign did not reveal its cash on hand.
“Klobuchar’s standout performances on the debate stage in October, November, and December resonated with voters and caucus-goers across the country,” Klobuchar campaign manager Justin Buoen said Friday. “As a result, we have been able to double our staff in Iowa and New Hampshire and make critical investments in Nevada and South Carolina as well as prepare for Super Tuesday. As we head into 2020, Amy for America is building momentum and a strong grassroots operation that can win big in 2020.”
Klobuchar, 59, presents herself as a moderate candidate in the Democratic presidential field, refusing to support a single-payer “Medicare for all” healthcare system and often mentioning that she won Minnesota districts that voted for President Trump. In the December Democratic primary debate, Klobuchar saw a bump in prominence, punctuating her points with jokes and receiving the second-most speaking time, just behind Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The $11.4 million haul leaves Klobuchar behind several primary competitors in donations from October through December. Sanders raised $34.5 million, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg raised $24.7 million, former Vice President Joe Biden brought in $22.7 million, and tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang raised $16.5 million. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s campaign has not revealed her fourth-quarter fundraising figures.
Klobuchar remains in the low single digits in national primary polls, tied for sixth place with Yang at 3.5% support in the RealClearPolitics average.
