Cynthia Nixon: Andrew Cuomo reminds me of Trump

Democratic gubernatorial candidate and former HBO “Sex in the City” actress Cynthia Nixon called her primary opponent, incumbent New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., a “bully” who reminds her of President Trump on Monday.

“We’ve all seen it — Andrew The Bully,” Nixon charged at a press conference in Albany. “It reminds me of the behavior we see from Donald Trump every day. My experience has taught me that there’s only one way to deal with a bully. You have to stand up to him. You have to send a loud, clear message that you will not be bullied.”

The press conference, according to CNN, was organized by the Alliance for Quality Education, a group with which Nixon has a long history with that pushes for more state school funding.

Education has been at the center of Nixon’s campaign as early as August when she told NBC’s “Today” show she was most worried about the state’s educational system, sparking speculation of a potential candidacy.

Nixon launched her campaign for governor last week. The New York Democratic primary will be held in late June.
