Former Cambridge Analytica director Brittany Kaiser visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange last year and told friends the visit was to discuss events during the 2016 U.S election, according to a report.
This revelation and Kaiser’s claims that she channeled cryptocurrency payments and donations to WikiLeaks has been passed along to congressional and parliamentary inquiries in both the U.S. and U.K.
Kaiser is alleged to have called WikiLeaks her “favorite charity,” according to the Guardian.
Visitor logs at the Ecuador Embassy in the U.K. confirm that Kaiser visited Assange on Feb. 17, 2017, and according to information passed along to government committees in the U.S. and U.K., the visit was “a retrospective to discuss the U.S. election.”
The connection between Cambridge Analytica was revealed last October, when it became known that the data analytics firm reached out to Assange in July 2016 and offered to help him distribute the 33,000 emails stolen from former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Assange said that he turned down the offer from Cambridge Analytica. Alexander Nix, the former CEO of Cambridge Analytica, confirmed Assange’s claim.
Early last month, Cambridge Analytica and its parent company SCL Group filed for bankruptcy and began shutting down operations.
