NEW YORK (AP) — Arts activist and public historian Elizabeth Sackler has been elected chairwoman of the Brooklyn Museum board.
The museum says it is the first time in its nearly 200-year history that a woman has been named to the position.
Sackler founded the museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art in 2007. It features “The Dinner Party,” a large installation by Judy Chicago donated by Sackler.
Sackler has been a board member since 2000. She succeeds John Tamagni (tuh-MAG’-nee) who will remain on the board.
