D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton’s annual jobs fair is being held Thursday and will feature 85 employers, including many private D.C. and regional employers, from Safeway to Lord and Taylor, as well as from the federal, city and regional governments.
In a news release, Norton said interest was so high this year her office has actually had to turn away employers interested in participating after maxing out.
“Our annual Jobs and Opportunities Fair has been popular because it brings job-seekers and employers with open jobs together under one roof, saving everyone time and expense,” Norton said.
The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center. A Top 10 Tips hour, which includes a “dress for success” fashion show, will kick off the fair and will feature strategies for creating a better resume, applying for federal jobs, using a temporary employment agency and for getting jobs in the expanding hospitality industry.
At 11 a.m., employers will begin meeting with job hunters. The Jobs and Opportunities Fair is open to D.C. residents only and attendees must bring a photo ID, utility bill, or other proof of District residency.
