Incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., is holding on to his slim lead against Republican challenger Gov. Rick Scott just a days ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, according to a new poll.
The NBC/Marist poll, conducted Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 and released Monday, found that Nelson gets 50 percent of the vote and Scott holds 46 percent, a narrow 4-point lead for Nelson. The 4 percent difference in polling numbers between Nelson and Scott falls within the margin or error among likely voters, which is five percentage points.
Another 4 percent of those polled indicated they are still undecided.
On average, Nelson has maintained a lead in the polls against Scott by 1-4 percentage points, and according to the RealClearPolitics average, the senator is 1.9 percentage points ahead of his Republican challenger.
President Trump last week campaigned in Florida to help push Scott over the top, and was there again Saturday night.
