busted on identity theft charge
Fairfax County police detectives arrested a former employee of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development who is accused of using a client’s personal information to fraudulently rent an apartment in Centreville.
The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development started investigating the case in March 2009. In mid-May, it turned the case over to the Fairfax County police. Detectives charged Leslie Y. Jones, 40, of Centreville, with felony identity theft with the intent to defraud.
Officers sickened by fumes,
Gaithersburg man found dead
Montgomery County police officers were sickened by fumes while investigating the death of a man found in a sport utility vehicle in Gaithersburg.
The man had been last seen with friends the night before and the Ford Explorer was seen in a parking lot of his residence on the 800 block of Clopper Road early Monday. Around 10 p.m. Monday, police were called to check on the man inside the SUV and were overcome by fumes and taken to a hospital. Police said the fumes were gasoline vapors emanating from a generator inside the vehicle.
Police identified the man as 39-year-old Marcos Lopez-Perez.
Search continues for missing girls
Montgomery County police continued their search late Tuesday for two girls who were last seen leaving their school in Bethesda last week.
One of the girls called her mother on Monday, but authorities are still concerned about their safety and are asking the public to help find them.
Twelve-year-old Cheyenne Summer Marcolina is white, 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds, and has long brown hair with blond highlights and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing dark bluejeans, silver high-tops, a hooded sweat shirt and a black and red checkered backpack.
Anastasia Strong, 14, is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a blue sweat shirt.
