President Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci get along just fine, and the president wants the public to know that.
Several people have questioned whether Trump and Fauci, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, have a turbulent relationship because of the president’s desire to turn the economy back on while the doctor supports more statewide lockdowns.
In a tweet Tuesday morning, Trump shared a clip of Fauci explaining that the president has been following his advice with the caption, “Thank you, Tony.” In the interview shared by the president, Fauci noted that Trump has been taking the matter seriously and asking extensive questions.

“We talk about every aspect [of the pandemic]. And we make all of our decisions and recommendations that are based on the science,” Fauci said of the White House task force in a Fox News interview. “I have never, in that room, had a situation where I said, ‘Scientifically, this is the right thing to do,’ and they said, ‘Don’t do it,’ or, ‘Scientifically this is the wrong thing to do,’ and they did it anyway.”
He continued, “Then we get up, and we present it to the president. And he asks a lot of questions. That’s his nature. He’s constantly asking new questions. And I never, in the multiple times that I’ve done that, where I’ve said, ‘For scientific reasons, we really should do this,’ that he hasn’t said, ‘Let’s do it.'”
Fauci added that Trump has “never overruled” his advice when it comes to addressing the coronavirus.
