Melania Trump’s plane forced to turn around after ‘thin haze of smoke’ witnessed

Members of the press traveling with the first lady reported seeing “a thin haze of smoke” and could “smell something burning.” Press were then given wet towels to hold over their faces “if the smell became too strong.”

Trump’s communications director Stephanie Grisham told the Washington Examiner a “minor mechanical issue” was to blame.

“Everything is fine and everyone is safe,” she said.

The plane landed safely at Joint Base Andrews shortly after the incident.

Trump, her team, and members of the press boarded a separate plane about an hour later for the trip to Philadelphia.
