HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — The Hattiesburg American is closing shop at the downtown location where it called home for 42 years.
The newspaper this week is moving to new offices in Midtown.

The newspaper reports (http://hatne.ws/1lFaSiX ) the news department, the advertising department, business office and administration will locate to a 5,100-square-foot suite.
It will be the first move for the paper since it moved in 1972 to the 35,000-square-foot building on Main Street.
In 1982, the paper was purchased from the Hederman family by Gannett Co. Inc.
Two years later, the site was expanded and became a print site for the Gannett-owned national daily USA Today.
In 2009, the American stopped all printing operations. Design of the paper is done by electronic link with one of the copy desk hubs that Gannett created nationally.
