Poll: Clinton takes post-debate lead over Trump in Nevada

In a new poll conducted following the first presidential debate, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds a 6-point lead over Donald Trump in the battleground state of Nevada.

According to a new Suffolk University poll released Friday, Clinton leads with 44 percent support to Trump’s 38 percent. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson takes 7 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein is not on the ballot.

The poll was taken from Sept. 27-29 and has a margin of error of 4.4 percent.

In just over a month, Clinton has seen her lead expand by 4 points, having led by 2 points (44-42 percent) in Suffolk’s previous poll taken in mid-August.

Respondents also saw Clinton as the clear cut winner of Monday’s debate. Fifty-seven percent believe she won the head-to-head matchup. Meanwhile, 22 percent believe Trump came out victorious.

Nevada has turned out to be a preeminent swing state in the 2016 race. Heading into Friday, Trump was leading the former secretary of state by a 2.3-point margin, taking 42.8 percent support to Clinton’s 40.5 percent.

Additionally, GOP Rep. Joe Heck continues to lead in the fight to replace Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who is retiring after five terms in office. He leads Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto by 3 points (38-35). 18 percent of voters are undecided with just over a month to go before Election Day.
