Chris Brown has finally broken his silence over the shocking incident during which he allegedly assaulted Rihanna more than a week ago. The R&B singer says he’s sorry but can’t say much more.
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” he said in a statement released Sunday. “I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”
“Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong,” Chris added. “While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writing under my name are frauds.”
Well, it certainly doesn’t answer a lot of our questions, but at least he’s taking responsibility for his actions. Still, we’d have to agree with Rihanna’s father, who recently told People magazine that “if it were me, I’d move on” from her boyfriend.
New Couple Alert
Katy Perry seems to be rebounding quite nicely from her breakup with Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes. On Valentine’s Day, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer appeared to have moved on to another pierced, tattooed rocker: Benji Madden of Good Charlotte. The two were tight at an after-party for her Las Vegas show at the Lavo nightclub.
“Katy and Benji sat together and chatted closely,” an insider recalls to OK! magazine. “They were with friends but you could definitely tell they were on a date. There wasn’t any public making out but they were very ‘friendly’ with each other.”
To wit: People reports the duo were deep in cuddle mode, with their hands on each other’s legs, and an onlooker picked up on “some chemistry there.”
Awww. Somehow these two seem kind of perfect for each other … and we leave it to you to decide whether that’s a compliment.
Salma Married
Last week, we were wondering what was up with Salma Hayek and her baby daddy, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault — though they ended their engagement back in July, she had just referred to him as her boyfriend. Well, it’s safe to say they’re back on: The couple wed at a city hall in Paris on Valentine’s Day.
(Cutesy fun fact: The romantic date was especially appropriate, considering the couple’s 1½-year old daughter is named Valentina.
This is really great news, because, you know, between the production company, the adorable baby, and being a 42-year-old with a face and body any 22-year-old would kill for, Salma Hayek’s life was not perfect enough. A billionaire husband was exactly what she needed.
Moss: Beer Me
Breaking news: Models can be divas. A source sniped to Page Six that Kate Moss not only arrived “two hours late” for a recent fashion shoot but acted boorish once she got there.
“She demanded a beer and then proceeded to finish off beer after beer after beer while she was getting her makeup done,” the tipster complained. (Hey, at least she’s getting some carbs.)
“When it was time for the shoot, she sat on the male model’s lap but ignored him — didn’t say one word to anyone — and then, when her pictures were done, walked out,” the source added. (Kate’s rep didn’t respond to calls for comment.)
