Republican Sen. Ben Sasse spent a day of his two-week recess getting down and dirty on a cattle ranch in north central Nebraska.
The senator’s 14-year-old, Alexandra, spent the past month as a farmhand, learning the ins and outs of the cow-calf operation. Sasse used the visit to tweet lessons from the farm.

But first, it’s time to meet a bull up close and personal.
Then Breck, Ben’s wife Melissa, and his daughters Alexandra and Elizabeth take the feed over to the cattle.

The senator pokes at his wife for equating the bulls to a country comedian.
My wife keeps insisting that many of these bulls are “CUTE…in a Larry-the-Cable-Guy @GitRDoneLarry
-Kinda-Way.”#DontSeeIt#SoConfused— Ben Sasse (@BenSasse) March 31, 2016
And the family leaves with a brand new addition.

(Why was it so obvious even before we arrived here that we’d be leaving with more dogs than we came with?)
G’night.
