Prominent GOP senator endorses Trump-backed Bernie Moreno for Ohio Senate seat

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) rallied behind Republican candidate Bernie Moreno in his race for Ohio Senate in a fight to flip the seat.

Tuberville’s endorsement comes ahead of Ohio’s March 19 primary, in which Moreno will battle against Republican candidates Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan, with the winner set to face off against incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

Brown’s lead over the Ohio Senate race has decreased, according to a recent poll, which shows Brown ahead of Moreno and LaRose by just 2 points.

“I’m endorsing Bernie Moreno for U.S. Senate because we need more Conservative fighters in Washington. A successful businessman, proven leader, and political outsider, Bernie will join our fight against the Washington swamp,” Tuberville said in a press release obtained by Fox News.

The GOP is hoping to win back the Senate through crucial states Ohio and Montana, where former President Donald Trump was victorious in 2020.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Sen. Tuberville, a relentless fighter against the Washington establishment. I look forward to standing strong for our conservative values in the Senate alongside Sen. Tuberville, and I am grateful for his support,” Moreno said in response.

Moreno has earned endorsements from Trump and other prominent Republicans, such as former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), and Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD), as well as the influential conservative organization Club for Growth.

Tuberville’s other 2024 endorsements include Republican Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake and Montana Senate candidate Tim Sheehy.
