MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough compared former President Donald Trump to “fat Elvis” on Monday, slamming what he called a pitiful attempt by Trump to support Russia and undercut allies.
“He is now so desperate to support Vladimir Putin and undercut America’s allies in Europe, he’s making up a ‘Sir’ story,” Scarborough said on Morning Joe. “It’s not even a good lie for Donald Trump. Like, this is — you can tell he’s losing it, like, he’s losing his touch.”
“This is when Elvis couldn’t even — when he’s so fat, he couldn’t even get the scarfs from around his neck to throw to the audience. … He just kind of sat there and looked down and sang.”
The host’s comments come in the wake of Trump’s apparent suggestion that he told the president of a “big country” he would not support that nation if it were attacked by Russia if that nation had not paid its bills.
“One of the presidents of a big country said, ‘Well, sir, uh, if we don’t pay, and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?'” Trump recalled to a crowd of supporters Saturday in South Carolina.
“I said, ‘You didn’t pay. You’re delinquent?’ He said, ‘Yes, let’s say that happened,'” Trump continued.
“‘No, I would not protect you. I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”
Not only is the story a farce, but it is Trump’s sign that he’s losing all his moves, like “fat Elvis,” according to Scarborough.

“It’s a story that a third grader would go, ‘Why is he lying to me?'” the host said.
“This guy will do anything to justify defending and supporting Vladimir Putin and getting us all ready. This is the dangerous part. When he’s president again, he’s getting us ready for him to be an autocrat, a dictator, and a guy who’s going to tell Vladimir Putin, ‘Sweep in!'”
