Harvard law prof Alan Dershowitz: ‘Last thing these students want is diversity’

Across the country, college campuses are full of student protests demanding change for race relations, diversity, and ‘safe spaces.’ Alan Dershowitz refers to them as and warns of these “tyrannical students.”

Speaking to Business Insider, the Harvard law professor, civil rights proponent, and defense attorney did not hold back from sharing what he really thinks of these demands. While they may actually call for diversity, Dershowitz argues that “the last thing these students want is diversity.”

He referred to the diversity they may want as “superficial diversity,” with diversity being “a code word for ‘more of us.'” Dershowitz also added that “they don’t want more conservatives, they don’t want more students, they don’t want more heterosexuals.”

Expanding on his view about this so-called “diversity,” Dershowitz referenced the situation at Yale where protesters of a free speech conference spat upon attendees. “These are students who want safe spaces for themselves but not for others. They’re prepared to spit on people going out of lectures,” he mentioned.

Dershowitz also illustrated the hypocritical agenda of such students with the kind of anti-semitism he has experienced on campuses he visits for being Jewish.

Many may find Dershowitz’s words to be harsh, but the seasoned law professor and attorney tells it like it is. He is speaking for the free speech of all. The protesters, on the other hand, seem to be speaking and fighting merely for themselves.
