CIA director helped Trump debug Oval Office

CIA Director Gina Haspel was briefing President Trump shortly after she took over the agency when the president became distracted by flies swarming around the Oval Office.

After leaving the meeting, Haspel sent Trump flypaper, according to the New York Times.

The gesture was described by the publication as one of the ways Haspel has used her observational spy skills to connect with the president who is often dismissive of the intelligence community.

It was also another instance of Trump becoming distracted by the insects during meetings in the Oval Office.

The Washington Post reported in 2017 Trump once asked his then-chief of staff Reince Priebus to kill a fly buzzing overhead.

The West Wing has a regular issue with flies.

During the Obama years, anti-insect lights were installed in the National Security Council suite and lower press office. Staffers were given fly swatters. Former President Barack Obama himself even chased down the insects.
