Gorsuch who? Most millennials can’t name a single Supreme Court Justice

The Senate hearings for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch began on Monday, but most millennials might not have noticed.

A poll taken by CSPAN from March 7-to-9 found that only 27 percent millennials could name a Supreme Court Justice. The most identifiable justice was Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Meanwhile, Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan were the least popular. No one was able to identify either one of those justices.

Sadly, millennials weren’t alone when it came to Breyer. No one of any age group could identify the 78-year-old justice.

Gorsuch is only slightly more popular than the sitting justices. 19 percent of millennials could name the nominee. Even though most didn’t know him, 35 percent supported his nomination and 36 percent disapproved of him.

Despite not knowing a single Justice, 69 percent said they are following news about the Supreme Court, with 25 percent saying they’re following the news closely.

Millennials were the most supportive of the idea of allowing television coverage of its oral arguments, with 83 percent supporting the idea. Overall the American public was supportive of that idea, with 76 percent in favor of television coverage of the oral arguments.
