Actress Kimberly Elise took to social media to celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade, returning the fight over abortion rights to the states.
The Diary of a Mad Black Woman actress shared a photo of a baby sleeping with biblical scriptures about children being knitted together in their mother’s wombs by God.
“Millions of babies will be saved from death by abortion due to the overturning of Roe V. Wade,” Elise wrote on Instagram. “Hallelujah!”
Elise is known for her role as Helen in Tyler Perry’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman. In the film, Helen is abused by her husband, named Charles.
Comments on Elise’s photo were turned off, but reactions came in on other posts across social media.

Gossip account “The Shade Room” shared Elise’s post, drawing several negative reactions.
“And this is why Charles dragged you outside!!!!” one comment said, garnering more than 35,000 likes.
Another popular comment stated, “Charles is now my favorite.”
“Let women make their own choice!” another comment said. “Whether you for abortion or not!!! Let her make her own decision!!!”
Screenwriter J.C. came to the actress’s defense.
“Kimberly Elise has an opinion & view that’s unique to her … Some people will agree & others will disagree, we don’t have the same views on anything,” J.C. tweeted. “But let’s not act like y’all ain’t gonna watch Diary of a mad black woman moment it comes on tv again.”
Florida Republican congressional candidate Lavern Spicer, who is also black, said the negative reaction is because of Elise’s race.

“Kimberly Elise is being attacked because she is a Black woman who is pro-life,” Spicer tweeted. “To the libs, we’re nothing but ‘n*****s’ if we aren’t liberals. I was never called that word my entire life until I ran as a Republican. Now it’s a daily thing. Kimberly, don’t bend & stay strong!”
