“In order to come together as a country and come together as people and connect, you have to listen to other people’s opinions — and, a lot of times, opinions that you don’t agree with,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show.

“We have two ears and one mouth for a reason,” the NFL quarterback noted. “We speak twice as often as we listen.”

The four-time NFL MVP said unhealthy division comes when people do not have open minds or engage in conversations that provide opportunities to hear differing opinions.

“That’s how division happens because there’s absolutely zero room for people to connect and at least just listen to what you have to say,” Rodgers said. “At the end of the conversation, it could be, ‘Well, I respectfully disagree with that.’ Awesome, at least you listened.”

Rodgers’s discussion with McAfee follows his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience last week, when he challenged the country’s division over COVID-19 mandates.

“There was a lot of public shaming that was attempted to coerce people to get vaccinated,” Rodgers told Rogan, revealing that he did not get vaccinated due to an allergy to an ingredient in the vaccine.
