Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene posted a video to social media of her shredding a warning she received from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“You can’t discriminate against people simply because they won’t wear a mask,” Greene said in the video. “Today, I refused to wear a mask on the House floor, and I received a warning from Speaker Pelosi that leads to fines if I continue to refuse to wear a mask.”
“Well, here’s what I think of your warning, Speaker Pelosi,” Greene added before putting the warning in the shredder.

The video comes after Pelosi refused to lift the mask mandate on the House floor, despite updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance that vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in most settings, including indoors. That guidance led other federal agencies and the Senate to shed their mask mandates, but Pelosi has not budged on the rule in the House as she continues to push lawmakers to get the vaccine.
MASK REVOLT: A DOZEN REPUBLICANS PROTEST PELOSI AND SHOW FULL FACES ON HOUSE FLOOR
But Republicans have argued Pelosi is no longer following the science, leading to a standoff over the masks.
“If Minority Leader McCarthy wants to be maskless on the Floor of the House of Representatives, he should get to work vaccinating his Members,” a spokesperson for Pelosi said of the mandate.
Greene was joined in protesting the new rules by Rep. Thomas Massie, who said lawmakers have “had enough” of the rule.
“We’ve had enough. We are refusing to wear our masks on the floor during this vote in spite of Pelosi’s threat to take $500 from each of us. Her rule is not based on science,” Massie said.
Like Greene, Massie later posted a photo to Twitter showing that he had thrown a warning letter he received from Pelosi in the trash.

“Just filed @SpeakerPelosi’s letter warning me to follow her mask rule,” Massie quipped.
