Police are searching for two suspects after a mall shooting in Maryland left three injured, one with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred at 12:45 p.m. at the Shops at Iverson in Temple Hills, about a mile southeast of the border with Washington, D.C., when two men got in an argument with several people inside the mall, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department. As they left, one reportedly opened fire.

The victims taken to hospitals include a man, who sustained life-threatening injuries, and two women, who received what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

As of Friday afternoon, the conditions of the victims remain the same, and police are still on the lookout for the two suspects. The weapons used in the shooting are currently under investigation, police told the Washington Examiner.

Several officers who were either working security at the mall or shopping while off duty were present when the shots were fired and were able to help the victims while they waited for paramedics to arrive, according to WUSA9.

It is unclear if the people injured in the shooting were involved in the argument with the suspects, Police Chief Malik Aziz said in a press conference.

The shooting is yet another act of gun violence amid a spate of others in places such as Philadelphia, Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York, prompting a new push for gun reform by the White House and Congress.

The House passed a raft of gun reform bills Wednesday that include raising the required purchasing age for semi-automatic weapons from 18 to 21 and banning high-capacity magazines and bump stocks for civilian use, among other new restrictions. The bill is unlikely to be approved by the evenly divided Senate, where bipartisan negotiations are also underway on narrower reforms.
