The no-confidence vote was triggered after a party leader said on Monday that he has received enough letters, 54, from Conservative Party lawmakers to hold a vote on the fate of Johnson’s leadership. The vote will be held in the House of Commons on Monday.

“The threshold of 15% has been passed,” Member of Parliament Graham Brady said Monday, referring to the fact that 15% of Tories in the House of Commons have submitted letters demanding the vote.
Johnson will be replaced as leader of the Conservative Party and must resign as prime minister of Britain if he receives a vote of no confidence from the majority of the 359 Conservative Party lawmakers.
Johnson has been under heavy scrutiny for his role in Britain’s “Partygate” scandal, in which government officials held parties hosted on government property during the coronavirus pandemic.
British senior civil servant Sue Gray’s report on “Partygate” released last month blamed “senior leadership” for the parties, which included at least 12 that occurred at 10 Downing St. on eight different days between May 2020 and April 2021.
Johnson, 57, denied holding a party on Nov. 13, 2020, when asked by Parliament in December of that year.

Photographs surfaced last month purportedly of Johnson with a glass of alcohol in his hand at one of the Downing Street parties, raising questions about whether the prime minister lied to Parliament.
Johnson has served as Britain’s prime minister since July 2019. He previously served as Britain’s foreign secretary and as the mayor of London.
