Actor Donald Glover says TV and movies are boring now because ‘people are afraid of getting cancelled’

Actor and singer Donald Glover argued that many TV shows and movies have been “boring” in recent days because people in Hollywood fear getting “cancelled.”

“Saw people on here havin a discussion about how tired they were of reviewing boring stuff (tv & film),” Glover posted on Twitter early Tuesday morning.

“We’re getting boring stuff and not even experimental mistakes(?) because people are afraid of getting cancelled,” he continued. “So they feel like they can only experiment w/ aesthetic. (also because some of em know theyre not that good).”

His comments sparked a debate on whether the celebrity was talking about cancel culture or simply referring to how shows can be canceled for reasons such as low ratings.

“Donald Glover believes cancel culture is creating an onslaught of “boring’ movies and television series,” outlet Indie Wire reported.

But one Twitter user, YouTube gamer Dolan Dark, argued this wasn’t the case at all.

“(He’s talking about movies/tv shows being cancelled but everyone’s brains are so poisoned by twitter they think he’s talking about cancel culture and getting mad),” Dark tweeted.

Glover has so far not clarified the meaning behind his tweets.
