President Joe Biden said he spoke with Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman ahead of a speech in Philadelphia, promising Fetterman would return to the campaign trail soon and joking about his large size.

Fetterman, Pennsylvania’s Democratic nominee for Senate, has been recovering from a stroke that’s kept him off the campaign trail for weeks and led to speculation about the overall state of his health. Biden attempted to quell those fears on Tuesday.

FETTERMAN SAYS HE’LL BE BACK ON PENNSYLVANIA SENATE CAMPAIGN TRAIL ‘REALLY SOON’

“Just yesterday, I had a Zoom conversation with our next senator from the state, John Fetterman,” Biden said to applause from members of the AFL-CIO. “If you’re in a foxhole, you want John with you, man. I know he can’t wait to get back on the train. He’s looking good.”

Fetterman, 52, stands 6′ 8″ tall and said in 2018 that he had weighed more than 400 pounds at one point before losing 150. Biden referenced the candidate’s size before moving on to another topic.

“There’s no bigger, stronger voice for working people in this state than John,” Biden said. “Certainly no bigger one, for that matter.”

Biden also backed Georgia gubernatorial hopeful Stacey Abrams during the speech and took a shot at former President Donald Trump by comparing him to Herbert Hoover.
