A win is a win and the Caps got a good one in Anaheim last night in dramatic fashion, 7-6, thanks to Alex Semin’s late goal. Probably not a good idea to fall behind by two goals like that in San Jose, though. The Sharks basically smothered Washington last week at Verizon Center and waited for goalie Michal Neuvirth to crack, which he finally did late in the third period. The Post’s Katie Carrera and WashCaps.com’s Mike Vogel report from San Jose that Neuvirth is expected to  get another chance tonight. He came on in relief of Semyon Varlamov after the first period last night.

The Caps have won exactly one game in San Jose since the Shark Tank opened in 1993. They are 0-9-1 since then. Alex Ovechkin is heating up with three goals and four assists in his last six games. His best stretch of the season was in late October and early November with six goals and 11 assists over 10 games. He had another burst of two goals and seven assists in seven games in late November.

Defenseman Mike Green will miss his third game in a row and fourth out of five thanks to lingering inner-ear trauma. Green is feeling better, coach Bruce Boudreau told the team’s web site, and passed his tests with a specialist on Wednesday in southern California. He is a scratch along with D.J. King and rookie defenseman Patrick McNeill.
