Two of the three inmates of a Tennessee jail who escaped through an air vent system have been found dead, and authorities are still searching for the third.
Tobias Wayne Carr, 38, and Timothy Allen Sarver, 45, were confirmed dead on Monday after they escaped with Johnny Shane Brown, 50, who remains at large, from their Sullivan County Jail cell early Friday, officials said.
“Tobias Carr and Timothy Sarver have been confirmed deceased in Wilmington, NC,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Preliminary information indicates both men were involved in a robbery at a convenience store in another part of North Carolina and led authorities on a multi-jurisdictional pursuit before the vehicle was disabled in Wilmington.”

Officials did not elaborate on how Carr and Sarver died but said they were found dead in Wilmington, North Carolina, a different town than where the convenience store was located.
The trio escaped on Friday by climbing through the HVAC system in the ceiling of their cell, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office told WCYB.
Brown was in jail for a variety of charges, including failure to appear in court, driving with a suspended or revoked license, aggravated stalking, and more, the sheriff’s office said.
Sarver was in jail for auto theft, unlawfully carrying a weapon, identity theft, and drug use.
Carr was in jail on charges of second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and vandalism. He was arrested in November 2019 for allegedly murdering his wife, WJHL reported.
