Deposed Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been moved to solitary confinement, according to a spokesperson for the junta.
The former leader was moved to a prison from the undisclosed location where she was being held previously, Deputy Minister of Information Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun confirmed Thursday.
DEPOSED MYANMAR LEADER TRIAL MOVED TO PRISON: REPORT
“By the law, it’s confirmed that [Suu Kyi] has been moved to the prison. And she’s been kept at separate confinement well,” Zaw Min Tun said.
A day earlier, reports circulated saying the deposed leader’s trial would be moved from a court to a prison venue.
The former leader’s party won a landslide victory in the 2020 elections, but the nation’s military seized power in a February 2021 coup, claiming the results were illegitimate.
Suu Kyi, who has already been sentenced to 11 years in prison on several corruption charges, has been charged with crimes ranging from voter fraud to incitement.
