Sen. Chuck Schumer said if the Democratic Party wins two runoff Senate elections in Georgia, his party will be able to “change America.”
“Now we take Georgia, then we change the world,” Schumer said at a rally in New York City on Saturday, after media outlets claimed Joe Biden the victor of the 2020 presidential election.
“Now we take Georgia, then we change America,” he continued.

The Senate minority leader was referring to both Georgia Sens. David Perdue’s and Kelly Loeffler’s runoff elections against Democrats, which will be held on Jan. 5. Neither of the candidates reached the 50% voter threshold needed in the state to claim victory on Nov. 3.
Republicans have stressed the importance of the Georgia runoffs, with Sen. John Cornyn warning that a Democratic majority in the Senate would secure the party’s ability to authorize a “radical agenda.”
“A Democratic majority in the Senate would cinch the radical agenda of the left,” Cornyn said on Saturday. “They must be stopped on January 5th in Georgia.”

Schumer also held a press conference on Saturday, saying President Trump “blemished our democracy” and told him to return home to Florida.
“Well, the long, dark night in America is over and a new dawn is coming. And I want to thank all of the millions of Americans who voted,” Schumer said. “We did not give up on America. Donald Trump so blemished our democracy, so tried to destroy our democracy but as the election showed, the American people never lost faith. And now. Donald Trump, go home to Florida.”
