Rick Perry: Trump’s border wall is ‘not’ going to happen

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry suggested Monday that the physical wall Donald Trump wants to build along the U.S.-Mexico border is an idea that will never become a reality.

“I’m for Donald Trump, and he says we’re going to build a wall, the Mexicans are gonna pay for it,” Perry, a Trump backer, told Snapchat’s Peter Hamby on “Good Luck America.”

Hamby responded, “It’s not going to happen.”

“Well, it’s not,” Perry replied, suggesting that there might be other ways to keep out immigrants besides an actual wall.

“It’s a wall, but it’s a technological wall; it’s a digital wall,” Perry explained.

“There are some that hear this is going to be 1,200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso, 30-foot high and listen, I know you can’t do that,” Perry added, referring to towns in Texas near Mexico.

Perry, who endorsed Trump in May, has shown skepticism about Trump’s wall before. He told a Des Moines radio station in January that building a wall “will take literally years. I don’t care how good of a builder you are.”

Earlier this year, Trump reaffirmed that he will build the wall should he be elected president. He also said it would cost $8 billion, and would be paid for by Mexico.
