The ‘Star Wars’ cast is back and older than ever

May the force be with them, so they can fight off their arthritis while waving their lightsabers.

That’s a joke.

The reality is that it’s pretty great Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (“HelpMeObiWanKenobiYou’reMyOnlyHope”) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) are set to reprise their roles in Star Wars: Episode VII. StarWars.com revealed the casting announcement Tuesday, which also included the men behind C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca: Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew, respectively.

The newcomers to the “Star Wars” saga feature Oscar Isaac, known recently for his portrayal of a struggling folk singer in “Inside Llewyn Davis,” and Andy Serkis, otherwise known as “Gollum.”

“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again,” Director J.J. Abrams said in a statement.

Abrams added that shooting starts in a couple of weeks; the movie is scheduled to open worldwide a week before Christmas next year.
