President Joe Biden is not working very hard to bring American hostages in Gaza back home, but he does want to bring in refugees from Gaza who are disproportionally supportive of terrorism.
The Biden administration is floating the idea of accepting Gaza refugees, a process that would require collaboration with Egypt, which is not accepting Gaza refugees. In fact, it seems that no neighboring Arab countries want to accept large numbers of Palestinian refugees from Gaza, and yet Biden is willing to push the U.S. to the top of that list.
There are a number of reasons this idea is awful. For one, Biden still has no handle on the border crisis that is overwhelming even the Democratic “sanctuary cities” that have encouraged mass illegal immigration. Another obvious reason is that Hamas is still holding American hostages in Gaza (assuming they haven’t murdered them yet), and that it should be a higher priority to bring those Americans home than to bring in Gaza refugees. There is also the fact that Biden abandoned Americans and Afghan allies in Afghanistan to the whims of the Taliban, yet is going to trip over himself to bring in Gaza refugees.
Perhaps all of this could be overlooked were it not for the glaring issue that a majority of Gazans support Hamas and their terrorist tactics. A December poll found that 57% of Gazans supported Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre of 1,200 civilians. Just 17% of Gazans think Hamas committed war crimes against Israel, while a whopping 97% claim Israel has committed them.

If only 17% of Gazans can recognize that Hamas committed war crimes by massacring women, children, and the elderly, taking civilian hostages, and committing mass rapes, how is it possible that we could reasonably vet the large number of refugees Biden wants to bring to America? And why are we going to prioritize them over Afghans who put their lives on the line to help American troops or over the Americans that Hamas is currently still holding hostage?
We have enough antisemitic, terrorist sympathizers on our college campuses right now without risking importing more just so Biden can shore up his margins in Michigan. The U.S. should not be accepting any Gaza refugees, especially when Egypt and other neighboring nations are already refusing to do so.
