Filmmaker Michael Moore has an estimated fortune of $50 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, giving him the power to throw his weight around to help out his fellow liberals, even when they break the law.
As the Daily Caller reported, Moore offered to pay the legal fees of Bree Newsome, the woman who climbed a 30-foot flagpole in front of the South Carolina statehouse and ripped down the Confederate flag over the weekend.
Friends of @BreeNewsome – I will pay her bail money or any legal fees she has. Please let her know this. #Charleston #TakeDownTheFlag

“Friends of @BreeNewsome – I will pay her bail money or any legal fees she has. Please let her know this. #Charleston #TakeDownTheFlag,” Moore wrote on Twitter Saturday a few hours after Newsome took down the flag.
Saturday morning, Newsome refused orders by the State Capitol Police to come down from the flagpole and said she was “prepared to be arrested.”
“We removed the flag today because we can’t wait any longer,” Newsome said. “We can’t continue like this another day. It’s time for a new chapter where we are sincere about dismantling white supremacy and building toward true racial justice and equality.”
She and a friend who aided her were arrested and charged with defacing a monument. She faces a fine of up to $5,000 or three years in jail.
With his vast fortune, $5,000 won’t be much money to Moore.
The filmmaker also tweeted out video of Newsome completing the crime.
