Virginia man sought in puppy scam

Police are looking for a Virginia man who is accused of taking money from people by promising them puppies he never delivered.

Radford authorities are trying to track down 23-year-old David William Oliver Jr., the Roanoke Times reports.

Officials say he has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses. He allegedly scammed people by saying they would get puppies if they paid a deposit fee, but never followed through with the pets.

Police haven’t been able to contact him since he was indicted earlier this month, the newspaper reported. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Radford police at (540) 731-3624.
