Israeli police release dramatic footage of hostage rescue

Israel released a video of its dramatic rescue operation in which four hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7 were saved over the weekend.

In the video, the Israel Defense Forces can be seen moving through a wooded area before reaching a home where they make contact with the hostages. Several gunshots and small explosions can be heard during the operation.

The rescued hostages were Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 22, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 41. All four were taken to Sheba Tel-HaShomer Medical Center near Tel Aviv at the time of their rescue and were reported to be in good condition. Palestinian officials said more than 200 were killed in the rescue operation.

In the video, soldiers can be heard telling the hostages, “We came to save you. Stay calm.” Ziv, Meir Jan, and Kozlov can be seen with their heads shaved before their rescue. The hostages appear to be taking shelter under a mattress or some similar structure before IDF forces uncovered them.

“I welcome the rescue of four hostages who have now been reunited with their families. We will not rest until every hostage is returned home,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken posted on X.

Ten days ago, the United States laid out a three-part ceasefire proposal for an enduring ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. On Monday, the U.N. Security Council passed a resolution urging both Israel and Hamas to accept the agreement. The resolution states Israel has “accepted” the deal and “calls upon” Hamas to accept as well.
