First lady Michelle Obama hit the campaign trail again Tuesday, preaching the Gospel of Barack and telling a Nashville fundraiser that the nation is lucky to have him at the helm.
“We are so blessed to have him. We are so blessed,” she said to applause. The reason: “This president has brought us out of the dark and into the light.”
Obama’s point was clear: Her husband was handed a mess from former President Bush and delivered. “That’s what he walked into; that’s what he inherited,” she said, adding: “While we have a long way to go, we have more work to do to rebuild our economy–yes, we are not finished, but today, millions of folks are collecting a paycheck again. That’s what’s happening. That is what’s at stake. That’s the choice we face.”
In making her latest campaign stop, the first lady also promised to hit the political trail like no first lady before her. “I’m going to be out there on the campaign trail like nobody has ever seen,” she promised.
Clearly the crowd liked her pitch, because at the end she led in a cheer.
Obama: “I have one last question for you. Are you all in?”
Donors: “Yes!”
Obama: “Wait, wait wait. I couldn’t hear you. Are you in?”
Donors: “Yes!”
Obama: “Are you in?”
Donors: “Yes!”
Obama: “Because I am so in, I am so in. I am going to be working so hard. We have an amazing story to tell.”
