Kamala Harris: Trump sowing doubt about election integrity because he ‘has no record to run on’

The only reason President Trump is sowing doubt about the integrity of the election is that he has nothing to show for his accomplishments, according to Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris.

Harris, a U.S. senator from California who is the running mate of Joe Biden, said on Monday that Trump is trying to confuse voters to distract from his own presidential performance over the last four years.

“I honestly believe he’s doing it to distract from the fact that he actually has no record to run on,” Harris told reporters in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “I’ve said this many times. We have witnessed the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of America. And so he wants to scare people, he wants to distract people, confuse people, but you know what, he doesn’t understand that the American people are smarter than that.”

Trump has long said the presidential election will be “rigged,” warning that widespread use of mail-in voting is more susceptible to fraud, as the practice is expected to reach record-high levels due to the public health concerns of the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump, who is behind Biden in national and swing-state polls, warned he would deploy squads of lawyers when the polls close on Tuesday, urging that no votes should be counted after Nov. 3.

“I think it’s a terrible thing when ballots can be collected after an election,” Trump told reporters in North Carolina on Sunday, according to CNN.

Democrats and voting-rights groups are also lawyering up.

There have already been several lawsuits across the country related to mail-in voting and early voting ahead of Election Day.
