A Baltimore man will serve more than 15 years behind bars for robbing a bank of $620 one month after he was released on probation for murder.
U.S. District Judge Catherine Blake on Monday sentenced George Robert Chaney, 45, to 188 months in prison without parole, according to prosecutors. Chaney – who was convicted of second-degree murder in 1980, as well as bank robbery in 1995 – was released from prison March 8, the same day he was sentenced for another murder earlier this year.
On April 11, prosecutors said Chaney robbed the Provident Bank of Maryland on the 2000 block of East Monument Street in Baltimore. Fleeing with $620, a bank customer chased Chaney and apprehended him near the bank.
