Ted Cruz: ‘Pedophiles’ at Lincoln Project need to stop talking about my children

Sen. Ted Cruz took a swing at the Lincoln Project on Monday after the anti-Republican activist group criticized the senator with a reference to his children.

The Never Trump organization posted a clip on social media of one of the group’s founders, Steve Schmidt, criticizing Cruz’s rebuke of the Sesame Street character Big Bird. The Texas Republican was among several conservatives who criticized the Sesame Street character on Saturday after the fictional bird’s Twitter account wrote he had gotten the COVID-19 vaccine — a tweet Cruz labeled as “government propaganda.”

The Lincoln Project tweeted out a video of Schmidt in which the political strategist said, “If Ted Cruz had kids that age, the chances that they would be unvaccinated are exactly zero. Zero. So, this is another moment of just abject stupidity of a United States senator.”

“The pedophiles at the Lincoln Project need to stop talking about my children,” Cruz tweeted in reply.

YOUNGKIN ELECTION IS LATEST IN STRING OF FAILURES BY LINCOLN PROJECT

In January 2021, the Lincoln Project’s co-founder, John Weaver, admitted to sending sexually suggestive messages to multiple individuals. A total of 21 men accused him of harassment, with one of the accusers saying that Weaver began sending him messages when he was only 14. The accusations led one of the organization’s founders, Jennifer Horn, to resign on Feb. 5.

Another tweet Cruz posted on Monday took note of President Joe Biden praising Big Bird for getting vaccinated, which Cruz called “ridiculous.”

Recently, the organization took credit for a stunt on Oct. 29 in which a group of people wielding tiki torches showed up outside a Glenn Youngkin event the weekend before the state election. The stunt was designed to mimic the 2017 “alt-right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Cruz has been outspoken against mandating the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Nov. 4, he introduced a bill that would prohibit the federal government and public schools from requiring COVID-19 vaccines for minors.
