Walz tried to appeal to men through the Smartless podcast, speaking with actors Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes for an hour about his love of cars, golf, and beef jerky.

During the friendly interview, in which both he and the hosts criticized Trump, Walz, who has been attempting to help Harris close the gender gap, indicated he may take up a car-related project post-election, depending on the result.

“When I get done with this, I’m gonna go back to community college and learn like bodywork,” he said. “You know, just a sense of accomplishment that you can fix your own vehicle.”

In addition to talking about his habit of running 5 miles or so a day, how his daughter bristles the most at mispronunciations of their last name, and his love of sand green golf, the governor also discussed his favorite campaign snack and his surprising supplier.

“Beef jerky is my thing,” he said. “I’m a homemade beef jerky [guy] and Pete Buttigieg‘s in-laws made some and he brought me some. I like the idea of a friend bringing you homemade beef jerky. That [knows that] pleases you more than anything, so that’s my thing.”

Polling suggests Harris and Trump have a historically large gender gap of almost 30 percentage points, with that difference poised to decide next month’s election.
